Mindfulness
“Mindfulness is awareness that arises through
paying attention, on purpose,
in the present moment,
non-judgementally,”
Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Practicing mindfulness allows you to
focus on the present moment which,
in turn, can allow you to decrease overwhelming feelings, depression, or anxiety.
Mindfulness teaches us to slow down and choose which behaviors we want to
engage rather than behaving impulsively
or reactively, which increases the toolbox
of behaviors we can use. It shows us that, even if you’re feeling angry, which is a natural reaction,
you can pause and decide how you are going to respond to it.
